Awesome opportunity for a skilled Junior-Mid level Front End Developer with full stack potential to join at a cutting edge Sheffield-based Digital Products Development Agency. We welcome applications from self-taught developers and graduates alike.
Role Info:
Junior-Mid Front End Developer
Sheffield city centre
£28,000 - £32,000 + 39 Days Holidays, Flexible hours & optional remote working + More Perks
Full Stack Training Provided
Company Values: + Innovate + Make a difference + Don't leave anyone behind
Who we are:
We are a creative, ambitious, tight-knit tech business, where team members are given real responsibility and a chance to make a difference. A difference not just for the company, but for the many charitable and voluntary sector clients we support. A graduate degree is not a necessity. We welcome applications from self-taught developers and graduates alike.
We are based in Sheffield city centre, but currently all working from home. We have a lovely bright office with bricks and beams and fresh ground coffee. Once COVID-19 has passed, you can choose to work from the office or remotely or a mixture of both.
The Junior-Mid Front End Developer Role:
Your job will be to bring your enthusiasm and drive to our technical team, to be involved in all our requirements and design sessions, to share responsibility for the delivery and maintenance of all our products with the rest of your team and above all to fit in seamlessly with the positive and fun environment we're passionate about preserving.
You'll be working primarily on our two core products; a contactless donation box & a self-service tech solution for libraries. These are modern JavaScript React/Redux web applications that use NW.js to run in locked down desktop environments. You will also contribute to new projects that come along from time-to-time.
The kind of activities you could be involved with are:
+ Designing and updating the user experience for the Donation Station and Discovery Station desktop applications and improving the UI.
+ Adding new features to the desktop applications.
+ Maintaining and updating the backend infrastructure and APIs written in Python/Django.
+ Integrating hardware devices to expose them to be used via a Windows service written in C# and creating simple API endpoints that the desktop applications can use to communicate with hardware.
About You:
Your skills and experience should be in software development (min. 2 years commercial experience), with an emphasis on Agile development with automated testing and quality built in. To balance our team, we are looking to hire someone with skills in and a passion for front-end JavaScript development and confidence to work on new and existing projects to design the front-end infrastructure. We expect you to have experience with most of the following:
+ JavaScript
+ CSS/SCSS
+ React/Redux
It would also be beneficial if you have experience in any of the following, but we do not expect you to know all of these and are happy to provide you support in learning more while you work with us:
Python / Django
C# (.NET) Windows desktop apps
AWS
Styled Components
Webpack
Nw.js (or Electron)
Postgres / MySQL
Jest / Cypress testing
You'll need to have the right blend of creativity, enthusiasm and drive to make a success of this challenging role. You'll be given the chance to contribute as much as you're comfortable with in requirements and design sessions, so this is your chance to have your voice heard. If you have ideas for how to better develop software with new technologies, we want to hear them!
You'll be rewarded with:
+ A starting salary of £28k - £32k
+ Statutory pension contributions
+ A generous holiday allowance (39 days, including bank holidays)
+ A long Christmas break
+ Flexible hours and optional remote working
+ Adjustable height desks
If all this interests you get in touch with a full CV and a covering letter that shows us why you're a great fit and we'll be in touch!
