Due to a retirement, an exciting long term career opportunity is available to join this specialist engineering company as an Apprentice CAD Design Engineer. You would work onsite in their open-plan modern office for 4 days a week with 1 day a week at college. You initially would be taking a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering before progressing to take an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. This employer has won awards for their outstanding apprenticeship programme.
As an Apprentice CAD Design Engineer, you would be working predominantly on the computer using Autodesk Inventor, learning how to create solid 3D models of the companies engineering projects. Experience, of using a 3D CAD software would be preferable alongside a desire to develop your skills and take qualifications for a long-term career with this company.
Due to the location, which is between King's Lynn and Downham, you will need to have your own transport to be able to commute to work and college when the term starts.
If you are a good communicator with an engineering bias, who has mainly A-C or 4-9 GCSE's and preferably experience of using a 3D CAD software, this could be the opportunity for you.
As an Apprentice CAD Design Engineer, your duties would include;
Using Autodesk Inventor to make virtual 3D engineering models.
Learning about the business and all the different products.
Spending time at their manufacturing plant to understand the process.
Liaising with colleagues and customers throughout a project.
Using your I.T skills to save, send and update systems during a project.
The Ideal Apprentice CAD Design Engineer will have the following;
Some experience of using a 3D CAD software.
GCSE's at A-C, 4-9 level or equivalent, one must be maths.
Strong I.T skills to use a variety of Microsoft Packages.
A desire to become a 3D CAD designer in engineering.
Good communication skills to liaise with clients and colleagues.
Apprentice CAD Design Engineer
In return, you will receive a starting salary of between £12,600 and £16,000 dependant on experience, skills and qualifications (which is paid every 2 weeks). Overtime is paid at time and a half. Your working week will be Monday to Friday 8:30 am till 5:00 pm with an unpaid 1-hour lunch break. You also have the option of finishing at 2 pm every other Friday by doing 3 extra hours in the days preceding it (available on weeks when not in college).
