I believe that I am a suitable candidate through my previous work in the PSNI, Civil Service Communication Department. I was located within the press office and dealt with ongoing and demanding requests from the media in Northern Ireland as well as across the water. I played a key role in publishing their internal magazine, Police Net which was published every month and it was the responsibility of the Internal Communications Department to gather content from officers, printing, working with external stakeholders and producing new and current ideas for the publication to engage with whole police service. I was part of a team of individuals who created PSNI campaigns such as the domestic abuse campaign “walking on eggshells”. Through my work experience I have demonstrated the ability to work under pressure and under time restrictions. Working within the Press Office provided me with the ability to work on a reactive and instant basis as well as giving me the opportunity for media scheduling and social media posting. I was given the opportunity to work with local and national media to delivery information regarding incidents that occurred all over Northern Ireland. I attended crime scenes and interviews in order to develop content for social media. Being part of the social media team gave me the opportunity to be creative and flexible. It also allowed me to generate humorous content that allowed the police service to become much more relatableFrom my experience on placement in University I developed strong working relationships with the communication department as well as senior officers and external stakeholders.I have gained experience through publishing on social media using Hootsuite and editing websites with Wordpress. My marketing experience with PRL Marketing gave me the opportunity to drive product launches, speak with potential customers and conduct customer feedback forms in relation to new launches.I was required to visit large supermarkets to launch new products which was mainly within the alcohol industry as Diageo was a main customer of PRL. I gained interpersonal communication skills during my time with PRL, providing the information to customers to ensure purchase of the product. I am a keen GAA player and volunteer at managing an u14 Camogie team. I am currently part of a fundraising committee with my local GAA club also which provides me with the skills of working under pressure, bringing new ideas and working alongside different charities.I can demonstrate leadership and team morale through my experience of sport.
