Quality Apprentice Buxton, Derbyshire
Your 2-year programme will give you exposure to all areas of the Cement plant with the primary focus being within the quality department chemical and physical testing laboratories. As a laboratory apprentice you will learn how to ensure that both the in process and final products are manufactured to the specifications agreed by our internal and external customers. You will work within the highest standards of safety and environmental awareness to ensure that the quality control and quality assurance criteria are achieved as efficiently and effectively as possible. Some of your main responsibilities will include, supporting the laboratory team in material chemical and physical testing, including XRF and XRD, working within standard operating procedures and ensuring documentation is relevant and up to date, liaising with other departments to ensure corrective actions are taken based upon results.
The Ideal CandidateWe wish to recruit for a Quality Apprentice with employment commencing in September 2020, working in our technical laboratories within the Tunstead Cement Plant.
The training will take the form of a Mineral Products Technician Level 5 run at the University of Derby.
You are expected to achieve or hold a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above, three of which must be Maths, English and a Science. You should be an enthusiastic team member, organized and self-motivated with a natural interest and aptitude for Chemistry. You should have excellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative in problem solving, a strong drive to succeed is also essential.
