Account Manager – Job Description
Account managers work in advertising or digital/direct marketing, taking control of an advertising or marketing campaign.
It’s a creative role, but also a resolutely commercial one. You’ll need to be able to budget and delegate just as much as you’ll brief designers and inspire clients.
Account managers are usually responsible for a portfolio of accounts. They project-manage, deliver presentations and maintain current clients while generating new ones.
As a result, they need to be confident, persuasive and dynamic, with excellent organisational and time-management skills and a strong business, as well as creative, sense.
Industry experience is as important as qualifications, but having an HND or degree in advertising, marketing, communications or business management will do you no harm at all. Industry-specific qualifications such as a postgraduate diploma in marketing or a CAM (Communication, Advertising and Marketing) diploma in digital marketing are also available.
