Sales Support Staff – Job Description
Sales support staff are the glue that holds a sales team together. Every sale leaves a paper trail that sales support picks up and sorts. It can be a great springboard to a career in either admin or sales.
Key roles involve processing sales leads, keeping an eye on customer accounts as well as a handle on sales targets, managing sales team/client correspondence, answering calls and scheduling sales diaries.
Selling is an integral part of any business, be it IT support or shower curtain rings, so knowing the product is vital, as are good organisational, customer care, verbal and written English and computer skills.
An ability to work under pressure, in a team, independently and to deadlines is also vital.
A decent education to at least GCSE level will be expected, and ways to stand out to employers include an understanding of the sales industry and knowledge of the specific sector in which the sales team is working.
